Navigation Pathway
plan for on-time graduation
Pathway 2
Navigation
Developing a comprehensive plan to achieve your educational goals both eliminates mistakes as well as provides contingencies should courses not be available. Dr. Tammy’s experience in understanding how to navigate curriculum and course schedules provides the guidance to effectively plan for on-time graduation. Many courses are either over capacity or not offered every term, and this requires planning contingencies to overcome these hurdles. Dr. Tammy has worked with numerous students to come up with effective plans, and she has the ability to “think out of the box” when finding courses that fulfill requirements.
Making mistakes in course scheduling results in spending extra money and the delay of completion. What many people fail to understand is that there is no motivation on the part of the academic institution to make sure that a student graduates on time. Advisors are overwhelmed with large student loads, and the system is predicated on “the squeaky wheel gets the oil”. Dr. Tammy has personally heard stories from many students who have made these mistakes. These mistakes result in not only paying for extra tuition but also paying for additional housing and meal costs as well as a delay of graduation. Have you stopped to think: Why would an academic institution care about effective guidance since it is they who receive the extra revenue?

Dr. Tammy's Concierge Service is the perfect way to have unlimited student support. You can seek advisement from Dr. Tammy on any higher education or career topic.
Navigating college can be complicated. During the school year, there are many decisions to be made in addition to focusing on coursework and doing well in school. Dr. Tammy provides the student support to respond proactively and timely to all of the challenges that students face. This includes the following (but not limited to): Planning and registering for coursework, having career search materials prepared and ready for internships and entry-level jobs, as well as knowing how to make a transition or pivot if you feel like you're on the wrong pathway.
Most college advisors are specific to a certain major/department, which means that they can advise only on the subject matter as it relates directly to a student's major. Many of these advisors are also "stretched extremely thin", which results in "the squeaky wheel getting the oil". Also, many of the career advisors in higher education have only worked in academia, and they don't always provide the best career advice for a corporate job. Unless a student is highly proactive and resilient, they can become lost when trying to figure out how navigate the higher educational system in order to graduate and get a job.
Dr. Tammy's multifaceted experience provides the support for students to succeed. Since some students require more support than a package or a few 1-On-1 Sessions provides, Dr. Tammy offers her concierge service as a way to provide meaningful support should it of interest for some students.

University advisors often manage very large caseloads and cannot provide individualized planning. Also most of these advisors only specialize in providing assistance for students enrolled in their department, and cannot provide guidance on changing to another major. Dr. Tammy creates a fully customized roadmap with sequencing, prerequisites, and backup options in any college major.
