Student Testimonial

When I was young, the idea of going to college was not a possibility. I grew up in a household, culture, and lifestyle that did not promote girls to continue their education beyond high school. My young adult years were a life lesson, my education was my goal, and my discouragement was my motivation. Along the way, I met a woman who started as my tutor and later became my mentor, and is now my friend, Dr. Tammy Pao. The assistance and compassion that I received from Tammy prepared me to reach my goals. When it was time to graduate from the undergraduate level program, she prepared me. She then assisted me with applying for graduate school and obtaining a full scholarship, and she also guided me on how to prepare for my career as a Social Worker. There were many paths to choose from on the road of life, and Tammy set me up academically, prepared me mentally, encouraged me emotionally, and allowed me to write a new story for my life.
